Mediterranean cruise 2019

This morning we decided to locate where the airport bus left from so know where to go tomorrow. The hotel reception gave us directions that it was about 10 mi utes walk and across 3 "small" bridges. Brian was not well so he stayed in his room while we went off. We found the Piazzale Roma quite easily but 2 of the bridges will be difficult with big suitcases.
Anyway on our way back Sue said she was not feeling well so we took her back to the hotel. Then Lynn & I headed off for a walk. We walked through to the Grand Canal & watched the commercial barges off loading goods all over the place. Then we just stood and watched the mayhem of water taxis, ferries & the barges as tggey weaved their way along ths canal. Then we decided to head back to the hotel using a different route. We wandered through all these laneways, stopped to get something to eat before Lynn said to me "do you know where we are"? I did not know so we stopped and consulted our maps to find we were quite close to the back of our hotel. So down another couple of lanes & across a couple of bridges we were back soon after 11.30.
Sue still not good but Brian was a bit better. Later on I went out for some lunch and we went for a look for a couple of items Sue was after. Then it was back to the hotel. Brian & Lynn had also been for a walk. Brian & I decided to go for a beer so we went to a local cafe & sat there with a couple of beers & snacks watching the crowd go by.
Then it was back to the hotel to check on the girls. We decided to meet for dinner at 6.30. However, when the time came it was only me & Brian who went to a restaurant just down the road. Then it was back to our rooms & I was in bed about 9pm.
Another fine but smoggy day in Venice.
So that is the end of our holiday & we head off home tomorrow with a flight out of Venice at 3.25pm.

Today we were up for breakfast at 8.30am. Last night we had to move our clocks back 1 hour due to daylight saving time ending. The breakfast was juyst a continental one which was a shock after what we had been havi g on the ship. Around 9.30 we took off heading towards the CBD. It was a little cool but fi e. We made it to St Marks Square, stopped for a toilet break which cost 1.5 Euros. Imagine ooayi g $2.50 to have a pee or whatever. Then we decided to take a ferry to Burano, another island near Venice. We got there about 1.30 & immediately searched for somewhere to eat. We found a lovely little cafe where we had pizzas, beer, wibbe & tea. We spent a further 2.5 hours walking arou d the main town looking in the shops selling lace, scarves, clothing & Murano glass objects. It was a very interesting & busy place. We got o a ferry ack to Venice where we arrived about 5om and began the long walk back to our hotel. Bria was not feeling well & struggled to get back. Lyn said after he got into the room he vomited - she was the same yesterday.
At 6.ep we headed off for dinner (without Brian) at a local restaurant. We all had Italian lasagne but it was still not as good as Kel's.
We were back in our rooms by 8pm.
Less than 2 days to go on our trip so a bit of packi v was done.

This morning we arrived in Venice about 6.00am in the dark. We had breakfast and then went back to our cabin to wait fir our timr to disembark the ship. We were due to leave at 9.20 but got off at 8.40.
After going ashore & locating our luggage we made our way out if the terminal. We looked fir a way to g er t to our hotel but as cars are not allowed into Venice we caught a monirail & then began walking. We had to cross over several bridges wiyh Brian racing ahead. Eventually we reached our hotel about 10.30 but could not get into our rooms until 1pm. Skk we dropped our bags & headed off for a walk. We made iut as far as a square near Rialto Bridge whrre we stopped for a coffee. Lynn was not feeling well so they went back to the hotel while we headed off to find San Marco Square . The place was poac k ed with tourists. A guy bailed us up offering a free trip to Murano to see the glass factory. We had a private water taxi take us out to the island. We had a private demonstration of how they blow the glass & a tour through their shop. Pruces were a but high so we left to return to San Marco Square. As we had had nothi g to eat we decided to head back to the hotel. We got lost in the laneways a couple of times before findi g our hotel. Brian had just walked out so we went & checked in before heading off for a beer. On our way back to the hotel we stopped t o look s menu in a local restaurant whrre some cusyomers who were leaving said how good it was. So at 6.15 we weny there with Brian & had a pizza & tiramisu f oir dinner. The meal was finished wuth a limoncello drink.... We headed back to the hotel about 7.30.

This morning we arrived in Split in Croatia. We were on our bus by about 8.45 heading to the old village of Trogir which was about 1 hour outside Split. This is a walled village on a small island. Our guide took us through the north gate in the wall and explained about the history of the place. We saw a house which was built before the year 1000. The house had been restored to 20th century standards internally. We went through the cathedral and then had a mens group si g a local song for us. Soon after eee were outside the south guide where our guide gave us about 45 minutes of free time. Brian & I had a cappuccino which was really strong. This was a beautiful place on a riverside with launches & yachts moored along the shore. After this we went back to Split. Here we were dropped off near the port. Our guide again gave us a tour through the palace. When she finished we went for a walk through a nearby market before walking back to our ship. The ship sailed at 3.45pm heading to Venice.
I thought split would have been the worst port we visited but it turned out to be a very nice place.

Today was yhe same as the other sea days. Breakfast later than usual & then playing cards from 11am throught to lunch time.
The afternoon was spent resting.
In the evening we went to a show in the theatre.
